Rwan Hardesty concentrates her practice on family law, estate planning and probate, non-profit law, and civil litigation. She represents businesses and individuals before state and federal courts in these and other areas of law. These areas include corporate law, transportation law, insurance defense, commercial litigation, subrogation, high-volume commercial, property damage, and sale of goods collection claims.
Ms. Hardesty is a compassionate attorney who is focused on assisting her clients to plan for and navigate life’s difficulties through advanced wealth planning, probate administration after a loved one has died, or assistance with changing family dynamics caused by divorce, child-custody, and post-divorce modifications. She is dedicated to delivering results for her clients and keeping them well-informed about all aspects of their case.
Ms. Hardesty believes that charities, churches, and other non-profit entities and advocacy groups play a significant role in our community. She is knowledgeable in providing legal counsel regarding the formation and governance of non-profit entities, and in dealing with compliance issues that non-profit entities face. Ms. Hardesty is a member of the Junior League of Dallas and a member of the Board of Directors of The Senior Source. Her experiences with these charities have provided Ms. Hardesty with insight into the inner-workings of non-profit organizations.
Ms. Hardesty is experienced in business and commercial litigation, including breach of contract, DTPA violations, foreclosures, landlord-tenant issues, commercial torts, property damage, transportation claims, insurance defense, and collections. Ms. Hardesty aggressively utilizes her skills to recover funds for her clients. She brings this expertise into her transactional work for her business clients, including drafting written agreements, such as business contracts, leases, franchise agreements, partnership agreements, and corporate documents with an eye toward avoiding future litigation.
Ms. Hardesty teaches high-school students trial and negotiation skills at Cistercian Preparatory School in Irving, Texas. She coaches law school moot court teams at SMU Dedman School of Law and is an Affiliate Professor at UNT College of Law. Teaching and coaching helps Ms. Hardesty keep informed about new techniques and skills that may benefit her clients.
Ms. Hardesty received her J.D. from the SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas, Texas in 2009. During law school, she clerked for a general civil litigation firm, participated in an externship for Former U.S. Bankruptcy Judge D. Michael Lynn, and was active in moot court, mock trial, and negotiation competitions. Prior to law school, Ms. Hardesty earned her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2001 where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. She then completed her M.S. in Criminal Justice and Criminology from San Diego State University in San Diego, California in 2007 where she graduated summa cum laude.
